Questions

Asked often,
answered plainly.

What it costs, what you receive, and who answers for it.

How do I buy a work from Arts Bespoke?

Write to Client Advisory at clientadvisory@artsbespoke.com, use Get in touch or message the house on WhatsApp. There is no registration and no deposit. You receive the condition report and ownership history in writing, view the work if you wish, and pay by bank transfer against an invoice.

Does Arts Bespoke charge a buyer's premium?

No. The price printed beside a work is the whole price. GST is shown separately on the invoice at the rate in force, and packing and insured delivery are quoted before you commit.

Are prices negotiable or on application?

Where a price is printed it is the whole price. A work shown without one is priced on request: the house sends the figure in writing before any commitment, with no buyer's premium and no deposit, so a collector knows what a work costs before deciding.

Do I need to pay a deposit to enquire or view?

No. Viewing is by appointment in Mumbai and costs nothing. No deposit is taken to enquire.

What comes with a work?

A written invoice, a certificate of authenticity, a condition report and the recorded ownership history, all carrying the same house reference number so the house can answer for the work years later.

How do I sell a work through Arts Bespoke?

Send photographs of the front, the back and the signature, with whatever you know of its history. The opening assessment is not chargeable. See the Sell a Work page for what to photograph.

How do I know what my painting is worth?

The house values in writing, with the comparable public results set beside every figure. The valuation walk on this site shows how a figure is arrived at before you write to us.

Does Arts Bespoke deal in antiquities?

No. Under the Antiquities and Art Treasures Act 1972 an object more than a hundred years old is an antiquity with its own registration and export rules. The house deals in modern and contemporary Indian art.

Can a work be sent outside India?

Modern and contemporary works can generally travel, subject to the rules for the particular artist and object. The house tells you in writing what applies before you buy, and arranges packing, insurance and paperwork.

Who will I deal with?

A named person. The heads of the house are listed with their telephone numbers on the House page, and every letter to Client Advisory is answered the same day.

Can I see a work at home before deciding?

Yes. The On Your Wall page shows any work at true size on a photograph of your own wall, and nothing you upload leaves your device. In Mumbai the house can also bring a work to you by appointment.

Is my purchase kept private?

Yes. The house deals privately. There is no public catalogue of sales and no salesroom, and correspondence is private to its addressee.
