Who We Work With

A wall in a house.
A lobby in a tower.
A collection
held for a family.

Each of these is a different problem. The house treats them differently, and says so plainly at the outset.

Private clients

AB / PRIVATE

Collectors

Building something with a shape to it

Buying to a thesis rather than to a mood. The house advises on which period of an artist carries the weight, keeps the documentation in order, and revalues the holding when it needs revaluing rather than when someone remembers.

Family offices

An asset the family already owns

Most families hold more art than their records show. The house catalogues what exists, values it for insurance and succession, and puts the whole holding on one register so the next generation inherits a list rather than a puzzle.

First purchases

There is no minimum

A first work is often a drawing or an original print by a significant hand rather than a canvas. That is how most serious collections begin, and it is a better education than any amount of reading.

Estates and succession

The longest relationship

Valuation for probate, division between heirs, and the decision about what to keep. This work begins with a collector and continues with a family who did not choose the collection. It is done slowly and without pressure to sell.

Institutions and business

AB / INSTITUTIONAL

Corporate

Offices and headquarters

Handled as a brief, not a shopping list: the spaces, the sightlines, the light, the budget and the timetable established first. Every work arrives with a written valuation and documentation fit for the company asset register and its insurers.

Hospitality

Hotels and restaurants

Volume, coherence and durability, against a fixed opening date. The constraint is rarely taste; it is scale, light exposure, security and a programme that must not slip.

Museums and public

Institutions and government

Acquisition support, provenance research, condition reporting and loan documentation, prepared to the standard a public collection is obliged to meet.

Design

Interior designers and architects

Work to the scheme and its constraints. Dimensioned proposals, hanging guidance, and dealings direct with the designer or with the client, whichever the designer prefers.

Advisers

Banks and wealth managers

Independent written valuations and condition assessments for advisers whose clients hold art, prepared so the adviser can put them in front of a committee.

Artists and estates

Those who made the work

Artists seeking representation and estates managing an artist's legacy. See submitting work to the house.

Reach

AB / TERRITORY

The house is in Mumbai and works by appointment. It acts for clients across India and for Indian collectors abroad, principally in New York, London and Dubai, where the market for modern Indian art is deepest outside the country.

Works ship worldwide, crated to museum standard and insured door to door. Modern and contemporary works move under normal customs procedure. Antiquities may not leave India except under a permit from the central government, and the house does not deal in them.

The house

Mumbai

Works shown privately, one client at a time, by appointment.

Acting for clients in

New York

Where the highest prices for modern Indian art have been set.

Acting for clients in

London

A long established centre for South Asian art and its scholarship.

Acting for clients in

Dubai

The nearest major hub for collectors across the Gulf.

The house keeps one address, in Mumbai. Where we say we act for clients in another city, we mean exactly that and nothing more.
