Embrace in two blues

Two rounded figures, one in deep ultramarine and one in pale cornflower blue, hold each other in an embrace; a smaller dark-blue form nestles against the pale figure's shoulder. Flat, unmodulated colour gives them the weight of cut shapes. To the right, a large disc of black-and-white printed texture, closer to a woodblock or a relief rubbing than to paint, fills the field, with a band of orange diagonal stripes at the lower right. A pale, mottled ground sits behind the figures at the upper left. A canvas that sets tenderness against pattern and print. It shares its hand with AB/2026/0069, which the house's earlier register attributes to Sanjeev Sonpimpare; the signature is being confirmed.
