A wide green canvas: a withered sunflower with a pixelated blue eye at its centre, held between two cupped hands, with tiny figures, grid lines and barcodes.

Abstract

Sunflower eye and hands

Contemporary conceptual painting

A withered sunflower hangs at the centre of this wide canvas, its dark core rendered as an eye of blue digital pixels with a small cursor arrow. Two cupped hands hold it from above and below, and tiny dark figures walk across the hands and the overlaid grid. Barcodes and strings of numbers run along the edges, and a spiral diagram with a faint skeleton sits at upper left. Against a lime and olive ground the picture joins technology, watchfulness, care and the natural world. No signature is visible; the artist is to be confirmed.
