How to submit
AB / SUBMISSIONS
Send a portfolio by email
Eight to fifteen images of recent work. Caption each one with title, year, medium and dimensions. Add a short biography including education, plus exhibition and publication history if you have any. Send images only, never original work.
It is read by a person
Every submission is read at the Client Advisory desk. Nothing is filtered out automatically and nothing is left unanswered.
A written reply within ten working days
Either an interest in seeing work in person, or a decline with the reason stated. The reason is usually fit rather than quality: the house deals in a defined field and takes on very few living artists.
The work is seen in person
Scale, surface and finish decide as much as the image does. A painting that photographs well and does not hold a room is a painting that will disappoint its buyer.
Terms before anything is taken
What the house will do, the commission, the period, insurance while the work is in our care, and how either side ends the arrangement. In writing, signed, before a work leaves your studio.

Record
A register of your output
Every work catalogued with an inventory number, photographed, and its buyer recorded. Years later that register is what allows a work to be authenticated and valued.
Pricing
A price that can hold
Prices set to be defensible at resale rather than flattering at the moment of sale. An artist priced too high too early spends years unwinding it.
Estates
An artist's legacy
Cataloguing an artist's output, establishing what is authentic, valuing the body of work, and placing it with the right collections over time rather than at once.
Documentation
Certificates and condition
Certificates of authenticity issued with the artist's signature where the artist is living, and a condition record made before a work goes out.
Terms
Nothing hidden
One commission, stated in writing. No hanging fee, no catalogue fee, no contribution requested toward a show. If a gallery asks an artist for money, it is not backing the work.
Being honest about the odds
AB / STRAIGHT
The house represents a small number of living artists and intends to keep it small, because representation that means anything requires years of attention per artist. Most submissions are therefore declined, and that is a statement about capacity rather than about the work.
Where we decline, we say why in a sentence or two. Where we think another house or a particular curator is the right home for the work, we name them. That costs us nothing and occasionally changes an artist's year.
Send images only. Never post original work to any gallery, including this one, before terms are agreed in writing.
