The women of Telangana, painted the way Vaikuntam has painted them for fifty years: flat saturated colour, a heavy contour holding every form, the eye drawn in a single kohl stroke. The indigo ground is scattered with gold points and the drapery falls in vermilion at both shoulders. Signed in Telugu, lower left, and dated.

A square field worked in ultramarine, violet and teal, with a vermilion form rising through the centre and two dark verticals standing before it. The brush is left visible throughout, dragged rather than blended. Joshi came to painting through the encouragement of K. H. Ara, who saw his sketches and put him on canvas, and he was elected Chairman of the Artists' Centre, Mumbai in 2024. Of that year he said that after five years working almost entirely in blue, other colours had entered his palette; this canvas sits exactly at that turn. Signed with the artist's monogram, lower right, and dated.
