Two stylised bulls face each other on a brown ground, their bodies filled with tiny scenes of Hindu deities, with gold and orange bands on horns, necks and legs.

Vivek Kumavat

Two bulls carrying the gods, 2022

Two stylised bulls meet face to face on a warm brown ground, set against a dark block pattern. Their bodies are filled with many small scenes of Hindu deities and attendants, painted in fine detail and bright colour. Gold and orange bands ornament the horns, necks and legs, the hooves carry green and purple patterning, and the curving tails end in small vignettes, one showing Shri Ganesha Ji. The treatment recalls Pattachitra narrative painting. The work is signed vertically at the upper right.
