Women dancing before a yellow moon

Numbered edition print

Five women, drawn in loose, flowing black line and washes of grey, dance with raised arms before a great yellow moon on a dark ground. Beneath them, a boat at the left, two small elephants and pots at the water's edge and yellow-and-black planks give the scene a feeling of a river bank at night, and a tree hung with white cloths rises behind the dancers. Signed Husain at the lower right and numbered 169/360 at the lower left, as read from the photograph. The edition, its publisher and its authorisation have not yet been established.
