Chandra Morkonda, The golden tree and the white bull: a tall painting of a great tree with blue-and-gold leaves rising from a golden trunk and tangled roots, with a white lotus bank at the left, a white bull at the right and a crescent moon on a vermilion ground.

The golden tree and the white bull

A great tree stands against a vermilion ground, its leaves shaped in blue and veined in gold, each a small tree in itself, set over a field of ringed and patterned colour. The trunk is warm gold, rooted in a net of fine gold lines. At the lower left white lotus buds crowd the bank; at the lower right a white bull, caparisoned and lively, walks through a meadow of tiny dotted flowers. A crescent moon sits at the upper left and a white sweep like a horn or a plume at the upper right. Signed lower right by Chandra Morkonda; the date is not yet established.
