Vermilion face with Kamadhenu

A large vermilion half face in profile, with a single green eye, anchors this square canvas. Around it sit crowded seated deities and monkey faced figures, painted in green and yellow washes with fine black line ornament on jewellery and drapery. At upper right a winged white cow leaps above a brown and green chequerboard, and a gold mandala is cropped at the left edge. The treatment draws on the Kalamkari narrative tradition. A signature at the lower right, partly hidden by the frame, appears to read Ramesh Gorjala.
