A woman of Telangana sits close to the front of the picture, drawn in flat, confident shapes. Her face is a deep olive green with a single watchful, kohl-lined eye, a nose ring and a great red bindi set in a gold-edged hairline. Gold and red bangles stack along her wrists, one raised palm glows red, and her black sari is pricked all over with tiny white dots like a night sky. The cream ground holds her still, and the signature sits at the lower left. Telangana women are the subject for which the artist is best known.
