Kiran

A seated winged creature before a field of ink

A square canvas divided into fields: bare white at the top, a great brown-black mass of ink-like paint in the centre, and a block of saffron orange below and to the right. Seated on the saffron, drawn in black line over a pale ochre wash, is a winged, lion-like creature with a red crest, turned towards the dark. A band of grey-black pattern runs down the left. Signed "Kiran" in script, lower right; the artist's full name is being confirmed.
