Kiran

A flame in the blue hour

A square canvas held in deep ultramarine over a heavy black ground. At the lower left a single flame form, white at the heart and ringed in gold, orange and red, stands up out of the black. A dark, branching mark spreads across the upper blue like a tree in silhouette, and a thin red line drops to a small dark sphere on the right. Low at the right a red-orange panel glows against the black. The paint is built up thick and scored in places, so the surface catches light. Signed "Kiran" in script, lower right; the artist's full name is being confirmed.
