Shiva's family on the mountain
Lithographic stone
Bhagwan Shiva Ji, bearded, sits with a trident beside his consort, Shri Ganesha Ji, still a child, on his lap, with a lion and Nandi Ji the bull at their feet and four attendants behind, against snow peaks. The signature "Ravi Varma" runs along the lower right. The stone has a worn, chipped edge, and the picture itself is crisp.

Kailasa, the snow mountain of Shiva
AB / MYTH
Om Shri Ganeshaya Namah · Om Namah Shivaya · Jai Shri Krishna
Bhagwan Shiva Ji Mata Parvati Ji Shri Ganesha Ji Nandi Ji
Bhagwan Shiva Ji, the Mahadev, the Lord of Lords, sits upon his snow-white mountain Kailasa with the trident (trishula) at his side, and beside him Mata Parvati Ji, the Mother of the worlds, the Shakti by whose grace creation moves. On his lap sits their beloved son, Shri Ganesha Ji, the elephant-headed, to whom every prayer is first offered. At their feet lie the lion that bears the Mother as Durga and Nandi Ji, the faithful bull who guards the Lord's door. We bow to the whole divine family: this is the home in which the gods keep house, and the oldest picture of grace in Hindu devotion.
