Nothing leaves your device. Your photograph is processed here, in your browser.

Disclaimer: please read

  • Indicative only. This viewer is a visual guide. It is not a photograph of the work in your home, not an offer, a valuation, a condition report or a guarantee of how any work will look or fit.
  • Size. A work is drawn at true size only where its dimensions are confirmed by the house and the scale in your photo has been marked against an object of known width. Where dimensions are not yet confirmed, the width you set is your own estimate. Lens distortion, camera angle and perspective in your photo also affect scale. Always confirm exact dimensions with the house before you decide.
  • Light and colour. The light match is an automatic estimate from your photograph, not a physical simulation. Colour, tone, texture, gloss, impasto, varnish and how a surface holds light depend on your screen, its calibration, your photo and the lamps and daylight in your room, and may differ noticeably from the real work. A private viewing is the only reliable way to judge a work.
  • Frames and mounts. Frames, mounts and glass shown are illustrative and are not included unless the house confirms so in writing. Printing stones are heavy objects, several inches deep; they are shown flat for visual reference only and are not for hanging.
  • Availability and price. Availability, price and terms are as confirmed by the house in writing at the time of enquiry. A work shown here may have been sold or withdrawn.
  • Your photograph. Your photo is processed on your device only. It is not uploaded, stored or shared by Arts Bespoke. A downloaded image carries a small notice marking it as an indicative visualisation.

The study collection

The Ravi Varma Press lithographic stones

Before an oleograph could hang in a million homes, an image had to be drawn on stone. The Ravi Varma Press, founded in Bombay in 1894 by the painter Raja Ravi Varma, printed devotional and narrative pictures that reached the whole subcontinent. The house shows 20 of its lithographic printing stones as a study collection. Each carries a written record, and the house states what is established and what is not yet known.

An object of this age falls under the Antiquities and Art Treasures Act 1972. The house sets out the registration and transfer steps in writing with every stone. Records are kept by Mr. Arnav Agarwal; enquiries go to Mr. Shyam Babu Naidu, Director, +91 70212 36700.

Questions

About the exhibition

What are the Ravi Varma Press stones in the exhibition?

They are 20 lithographic printing stones of the Ravi Varma Press, the Bombay press founded in 1894 by the painter Raja Ravi Varma, shown in Room V as a study collection. Each carries a written record, and the house states what is established and what is not yet known. An object of this age falls under the Antiquities and Art Treasures Act 1972, and the house sets out the registration and transfer steps in writing.

Can I walk through the exhibition in 3D?

Yes. Choose Walk the hall in 3D to move through a lobby and five rooms in your browser on a phone, tablet or computer. Drag to look, walk with the keys or buttons or tap the floor, and tap any work to open its dossier. An auto tour walks all 59 works.

How do I exhibit my work with Arts Bespoke?

Write to Client Advisory or message the house on WhatsApp with images and a short note. There is no submission fee, no assessment fee and no charge to be shown, and the house replies in writing within ten working days. Estates, collectors and other galleries may also place works.

What is the Arts Bespoke Virtual Exhibition Center?

It is an always-open online exhibition of 59 works held by Arts Bespoke, a family art house in Mumbai. The works are arranged in five rooms: abstract painting, figures and portraits, devotional and narrative painting, landscape and nature, and the Ravi Varma Press stones. Each work carries its artist, medium and house reference.

How do I see a painting on my own wall?

Open the Room Viewer on this page, add a photograph of your wall or living room, choose any work from the collection, and drag it into place. Mark a door or sofa of known width and the work is drawn at its real size. The tool also reads the light in your photograph and matches the work to it.

How accurate is the room preview?

It is a guide, not a guarantee. Size is exact only when the work's dimensions are confirmed and the scale in your photo is measured. Colour, texture, varnish and the way a surface holds light change with your screen and your lamps. Ask the house for a private viewing before you decide.

Is my photograph uploaded or stored?

No. The room photograph is processed entirely in your browser. It is not uploaded, saved or shared, and it disappears when you close the page.

Can I buy the works shown in the exhibition?

Yes. Each work links to its page with the price where one is published, and to a direct enquiry. Arts Bespoke places works privately between named parties, with a written record, condition notes and a house inventory number that stays with the work.

Can I search the exhibition by artist, colour or price?

Yes. Use the search box and filters above the rooms to narrow all 59 works by artist, colour, price band or any word, such as Krishna, banyan or acrylic. Sort by price or name, and save any work to your shortlist to send to the house.

Can I sell or consign my own work through Arts Bespoke?

Yes. The opening assessment is not chargeable and a written reply follows. Use the Sell a Work page, or ask for a written valuation if you need one for insurance, succession or sale.

Can an artist or estate have work shown here?

Yes. Artists and estates may submit work with no submission fee, no assessment fee and no charge to be shown. The house replies in writing within ten working days.

Can I give a painting as a gift or place art in an office or hotel?

Yes. The house advises on gifts, homes, offices, hotels and institutions, and every work leaves with its written record. See the guides linked on this page, or write to Client Advisory.

How do I arrange a private viewing in Mumbai?

Write to clientadvisory@artsbespoke.com or use the Get in touch page. The house arranges private viewings by appointment and can brief collectors in India and abroad.
